OBITUARY -- Catherine A. Sweeney

    Catherine A. “Kitty” Sweeney (nee Nolan), 87, died peacefully on Saturday, Dec., 31, 2011, at Abington Hospice in Warminister, Pa.
    Relatives and friends were invited to attend the funeral from the www.oboylefuneralhome.com, 309 Broad St., Bloomfield, N.J., on Monday. The Funeral Mass was offered at Sacred Heart Church, Bloomfield. Interment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Bloomfield.
    Born in Pittston, Pa., Mrs Sweeney lived in Glen Ridge, N.J. for 43 years and in Bloomfield, N.J. for 10 years.
    She raised her family while working as a nurse at Mountainside Hospital for over 30 years. She also worked as a private duty nurse and School Nurse at East Orange Catholic High School..
Mrs Sweeney was a member of Sacred Heart Church for over 50 years.
   She was the wife of the late Patrick Sweeney; mother of Catherine McDonald and her husband, James F. Jr., of Pennsylvania; Mary Pat Fleming and her husband, Joseph J. Jr., of South Orange NJ; Ann Bridget (Nancy) Siegal and her husband, Mark of Massachusetts; Margaret Mary Skrobacz and her husband, Thomas of Colorado; Patrick F. Sweeney III, D.M.D., and his wife, Pamela, of Delaware; Bernadette Petit and her husband, Ray of East Brunswick, NJ; and Rosemary Benedetto and her husband, Joseph D., of Colorado. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
    She will be best remembered as a loving, caring, compassionate mother, grandmother and friend and will be missed tremendously by all who knew her.
