High School Sports GRHS wrestler O'Keefe leads the way this season

To Glen Ridge High School head varsity wrestling coach Kendall Southerland, having a wrestler like Evan O’Keefe was like having another coach.
O’Keefe exhibited tremendous senior leadership for a Ridger team that grappled with a lack of depth en route to a 7-18 season.
One of the best 152-pounders in the area, O’Keefe won Essex County and District 13 tournament titles and finished with an impressive 29-3 record.

High School Sports GRHS girls’ hoops end fine run

The Glen Ridge High School girls’ varsity basketball team enjoyed a strong run in the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association North Jersey, Section 2, Group 1 tournament.
The fifth-seeded Ridgers advanced to the semifinals, but lost to ninth-seeded University, 55-24, on March 5 at GRHS. High School Sports Fifth-Grade Girls' Basketball Team wins championship

The Glen Ridge Athletic Association Fifth-Grade Girls’ Basketball Team won the Suburban League Championship by beating West Essex, 16-7, in a hard-fought game recently.

Two Glen Ridge Police recruits were laid off Feb. 22 when the Borough Council continued the process of trying to lower its estimated $500,000 budge gap for 2010.

Glen Ridge High School senior varsity wrestler Evan O’Keefe came up short in his bid to reach the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association tournament.
Nevertheless, it was a fantastic season for the 152-pounder.

Glen Ridge High School indoor track and field standouts Katya Dombrowski and Miles Gray enjoyed solid seasons.

The Glen Ridge Paper Borough faces tough decisions on budget

The borough of Glen Ridge will be facing hard choices this year when it comes to its budget. According to Michael Rohal, borough manager and business administrator, Glen Ridge currently has a $540,000 gap in its budget for 2010-11. High School Sports GRHS wrestler O'Keefe wins District title

Evan O’Keefe won the 152-pound weight class title to lead the Glen Ridge High School varsity wrestling team at the District 13 tournament at West Essex High in North Caldwell on Feb. 20.
O’Keefe pinned Passaic Valley’s Jack Mulroony in 5:11 in the final.
John Grimaldi also took third for the Ridgers at 135.
The Ridgers finished seventh overall among the 10 scoring teams.

The Glen Ridge High School girls’ varsity basketball team hopes to make a strong postseason run.
The fifth-seeded Ridgers will host No. 12 seed Technology in the first round of the NJSIAA North Jersey, Section 2, Group 1 tournament on March 1.
